KPOP DISCOVER's ME:I note

The 11 chosen on PRODUCE 101 JAPAN THE GIRLS began moving as ME:I under LAPONE GIRLS in 2023. The formal debut came on April 17, 2024 with MIRAI, and with Click alongside it the first outline of the debut period took shape. At the end of 2025 four members left as their contracts finished, and the group now runs with seven. Keeping the thread from the audition show apart from the shelf of work built since the debut makes the present state easy to read.

Three songs are worth holding on to: Click, Hi-Five and MUSE. Click concentrates how the moment of the debut looked, and Hi-Five layers the friendliness of Japanese-language pop over K-pop style formation work. MUSE is the signature video of 2025, and setting the official video, the Dance Practice and the Performance Video side by side changes the impression of sound and movement in each of them.

Into 2026, WHO I AM, Left or Right, Best Match and Update ME arrived one after another, and the spread of the shelf became visible. From here the line from the debut period to the present holds together as one continuous run. Click, then Hi-Five, then MUSE covers the moment of the debut, the friendliness of Japanese-language pop and the signature video of 2025.

Editors' take Click / Hi-Five / MUSE — the debut through to the current formation in three songs, from the LAPONE GIRLS seven-piece.

Japan activity score

KPOP DISCOVER original metric
No. 14/ 210 groups

No. 14 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 7%)

  • 10Japanese releases
  • 24Japan-related tracks
  • 7Members from Japan
  • 1Official Japanese accounts

The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
