KPOP DISCOVER's GOT7 note

What anchors GOT7 is acrobatic performing and the fact that all seven stand on their own. JYP Entertainment debuted the seven-piece on January 16, 2014 with Girls Girls Girls, and Jay B, Mark, Jackson, Jinyoung, Youngjae, BamBam and Yugyeom put hard group choreography with acrobatics in it at the front from the start.

The range runs wide, from the approachability of Just Right through the force of If You Do and Hard Carry to the maturity of You Calling My Name. There are Japanese releases such as My Swagger and Love Loop, and the solo work of each member is busy, so moving between the group and the member pages shows the whole picture.

NANANA in 2022 shows the seven gathered again after leaving the company, and it matters as the route through GOT7's own official channel. Just Right, then Hard Carry, then NANANA covers the approachability, the force and the regrouping in a few minutes.

Editors' take Just Right / Hard Carry / NANANA — three songs cover approachability, force and the independence of seven members in a JYP seven-piece.

Japan activity score

KPOP DISCOVER original metric
No. 35/ 210 groups

No. 35 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 17%)

  • 6Japanese releases
  • 29Japan-related tracks
  • 0Members from Japan
  • 1Official Japanese accounts

The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
