BIGFLO debuted in June 2014 with Delilah as a nine-piece. Jungkyun and Hightop took part in the writing and the rapping, so the texture of the songs was easy to read from outside, which marked the early years. With hip-hop as the axis, Bad Mama Jama on Second Flow pushed that roughness and drive further forward, and in 2015 the Japanese-facing 1,2,3,4 arrived, widening the range of activity early on.
To trace the change in the music, the plainest path is to start at Delilah and move to Obliviate. Obliviate, from Incant, has a strong dark texture, and the distance from the debut song gives the swing of early BIGFLO. Because the members were so involved in making the records, each release carries a clear sense of renewal, and following mini albums rather than single songs brings the context out.
Z-UK and Kichun left in 2016, and in 2017 a lineup including Euijin, Sungmin and Lex put out Stardom. After that release, which begins the later period, Upside Down from Emphas!ze left the signature song of those years. In 2019 the end of contracts for Ron, HighTop, Jungkyun and Yuseong was reported, so the early and later lineups need following apart. Delilah, then Obliviate, then Upside Down covers the axis of the debut, the dark swing and the signature song of the later years.
