KPOP DISCOVER's B.I.G note

B.I.G debuted from GH Entertainment in July 2014 as a six-piece built on a concept of introducing Korea. It started with J-Hoon, Benji, Gunmin, Minpyo and Heedo, and Jinseok joined later. The debut song Hello moves through sights in Japan and Korea, a world of its own that left a first impression unlike the third-generation groups arriving at the same time.

Holding on to Hello, Aphrodite and 1.2.3 as an entrance brings the range of the group into focus. Hello shows the ground where a friendly concept and forceful performance live together, Aphrodite brings out how seriously they take dance pop, and the bright pop line of 1.2.3 gives the face of the later years. The room to move between comic touches and hard dancing is what makes their music distinctive.

Rather than stopping inside Korea, they built a route of their own toward fans in the Middle East, preparing an Arabic version for Illusion, released in 2019. In 2024 the re-debut of J-Hoon, Gunmin and Jinseok and the solo work of Heedo drew talk and brought attention back to the original group. Hello, then Aphrodite, then 1.2.3 runs through the starting point of the concept, the core of the performing and the move into pop.

Editors' take Hello / Aphrodite / 1.2.3 — a GH Entertainment six-piece from a concept of introducing Korea to work abroad, in three songs.
