ZE:A debuted from Star Empire Entertainment on January 7, 2010 as a 9-member group. The weight of the phrase the name points to, Children of Empire, was already seeping through the hard beats of the debut work Nativity and the stage where 9 moved as one. The thickness of formation that only a large lineup allows, set out at the same time as the individuality of each member, was the axis that separated early ZE:A from other acts.
Aftermath, Illusion and Breathe are the 3 songs that act as signposts for a first listen. Aftermath gives you the skeleton of ZE:A as a dance act, and Illusion steps into an aching, large-scale visual language. Breathe carries the later air where brightness and calm sit together, and makes the change since the early days land all at once.
