INFINITE

インフィニット / 인피니트

INFINITE are the reference point for knife-sharp group dance: movements that match down to the wrist, set against dramatic, melancholy songs.

KPOP DISCOVER's INFINITE note

What anchors INFINITE is performing in very exact unison and songs with real drama in them. The boy group debuted from Woollim Entertainment on June 9, 2010, drew attention from the earliest period for dancing in tight unison, and became a leading later second-generation boy group through Be Mine, The Chaser and Man In Love.

The Chaser in particular is a song whose name comes up easily among the best in K-pop history. Watching the tense melody, the dramatic build and the choreography where everyone moves together makes the case for INFINITE clear.

From 2023 the work has run through INFINITE Company, founded by the leader Sungkyu, with comebacks and tours involving everyone. Following through to New Emotions and Dangerous shows a group working in the present tense. The Chaser, then Be Mine, then Bad covers the case for them, the early period and the force of the concepts.

Editors' take The Chaser / Be Mine / Bad — three songs cover exact unison and real drama in a later second-generation six-piece.

Japan activity score

KPOP DISCOVER original metric
No. 121/ 210 groups

No. 121 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 58%)

  • 2Japanese releases
  • 3Japan-related tracks
  • 0Members from Japan
  • 1Official Japanese accounts

The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
