Start here for the most awkward, experimental production SM Entertainment puts out, attached to some of its hardest choreography.

What anchors NCT 127 is an experimental sound based in Seoul and group choreography of real difficulty. SM Entertainment debuted seven members on July 7, 2016 with Fire Truck, then widened the line-up as Johnny and Doyoung and later Jungwoo joined; the 127 in the name is the longitude of Seoul and marks it as the Seoul-based unit within NCT. The work continues through changes such as Taeil leaving in 2024.
The appeal is the irregular, experimental sound of Cherry Bomb and Sticker together with the martial-arts-flavoured choreography of Kick It, and taking the idiosyncrasy of the sound from the music videos and the difficulty of the choreography from the dance practices and performance versions makes what NCT 127 does visible in the round. Keeping the differences from NCT DREAM and WayV in mind makes the units easier to follow.
Following through to Walk in 2024 shows where a long-running unit stands and the routes through the members. Kick It, then Cherry Bomb, then Sticker runs from the entrance for newcomers through the early experiment to the idiosyncrasy, in a few minutes.
Editors' take Kick It / Cherry Bomb / Sticker — a Seoul-based SM seven-piece that keeps renewing an experimental sound and difficult group choreography.
No. 46 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 22%)
The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
