レディースコード / 레이디스 코드

In 30 seconds: LADIES' CODE

A car accident in 2014 killed two members; the three who remained came back with Galaxy and The Rain, and FEEDBACK and SET ME FREE show how far the music went afterwards.

Start here for a group that is too often reduced to what happened to it, when the later records are the better argument.

KPOP DISCOVER's LADIES' CODE note

LADIES' CODE debuted from Polaris Entertainment in March 2013 with five members. Bad Girl, Pretty Pretty and Kiss Kiss put forward retro, slightly theatrical pop and carved out a character that stood apart even in the early third-generation years. In 2014 a traffic accident took EunB and RiSe, and the group faced a decisive turn.

Galaxy, the restart as a trio, made clearly different choices in both sound and imagery. The Rain deepened the maturity of the vocals, and FEEDBACK in 2019 brought back the lightness of dance pop. Early retro pop and later quiet refinement sit side by side inside the same group.

After the Polaris contract ended each member moved mainly to individual work, and the official MV route became the main way back. The balance between the voices and expressions of Ashley, Sojung and Zuny is easiest to see in the releases made once the group was a trio. Bad Girl, then Galaxy, then SET ME FREE runs from the retro entry through the choice made at the restart to the maturity that followed.

Editors' take Bad Girl / Galaxy / SET ME FREE — three songs running from the retro pop entry to the maturity of the trio, from Polaris Entertainment.
