KPOP DISCOVER's GWSN note

The appeal of GWSN lies less in one commanding song than in the sense of returning to the same place across several releases. Travel from Puzzle Moon to RED-SUN (021) and the detail of the electronics and the layering of the voices deepen by degrees.

Even after BAZOOKA! turned the palette brighter, the fineness of the sound survived intact. Listen through to Like It Hot and the path becomes clear: the dreamlike quality stays while the shading grows more adult.

Editors' take The more you hear the five releases in order of issue, the more the night view that belongs only to GWSN rises into place.

Japan activity score

KPOP DISCOVER original metric
No. 165/ 210 groups

No. 165 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 79%)

  • 0Japanese releases
  • 0Japan-related tracks
  • 1Members from Japan
  • 1Official Japanese accounts

The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
