What anchors ZEROBASEONE is a fixed-term project out of Boys Planet and the large opening it recorded from the debut. After the survival show Boys Planet, WAKEONE debuted nine members on July 10, 2023 with In Bloom. The group name carries the sense of moving from zero to one and ties into the story the survival show produced. The fandom is called ZEROSE.
The Japanese single, Feel the POP and GOOD SO BAD widened the range of the work, and with a Japanese debut release and a THE FIRST TAKE session there, coming in through the voices, then the releases, then the videos works well. The momentum of a large opening from the debut and routes widening into both Korea and Japan are the strengths.
When the contracts ended in March 2026, Zhang Hao, Ricky, Kim Gyuvin and Han Yujin left, and the line-up is now the five of Sung Hanbin, Kim Jiwoong, Seok Matthew, Kim Taerae and Park Gunwook. Taking In Bloom, then CRUSH, then Feel the POP and following the releases in order makes the run from the nine-member period to the five-member line-up easy to read.
Editors' take In Bloom / CRUSH / Feel the POP — a WAKEONE project whose opening and Japanese routes can be followed in order from the nine-member period to the five-member line-up.
No. 80 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 38%)
The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
