PURPLE KISS

パープルキス / 퍼플키스

PURPLE KISS pair a witchy, horror-tinged concept with singing good enough that the concept never has to carry the song alone.

KPOP DISCOVER's PURPLE KISS note

PURPLE KISS made a vivid first impression in March 2021 with Ponzona, the lead song of the debut mini album Into Violet released through RBW. Na Go Eun, Dosie, Ireh, Yuki, Chaein and Swan worked as a six-piece, holding dark pop and strong singing at the core while changing colour from release to release. In 2020, the year before the formal debut, My Heart Skip a Beat and Can We Talk Again had already shown the core of the singing and the mood.

The songs to hold on to as an entrance are Ponzona, Zombie and Sweet Juice. Ponzona shows the witchy origin, and Zombie from Hide & Seek in the autumn of 2021 brings a playful horror concept, which together give the range of the group. Sweet Juice from Cabin Fever in 2023 layers fantastical visuals over strong vocals and finds a calm that had not been there before.

In 2024 BXX and Headway renewed the driving performance songs, and in 2025 I Miss My..., the English album OUR NOW and Breath from the final release A Violet to Remember were left as official work. Ponzona, then Zombie, then Sweet Juice runs through the witchy origin, the playfulness and the fantastical calm.

Editors' take Ponzona / Zombie / Sweet Juice — an RBW six-piece whose path from dark pop through strong singing fits into three songs.

Japan activity score

KPOP DISCOVER original metric
No. 167/ 210 groups

No. 167 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 80%)

  • 0Japanese releases
  • 0Japan-related tracks
  • 1Members from Japan
  • 1Official Japanese accounts

The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
