Playback debuted from Coridel Entertainment in June 2015 as a girl group. They set out as a four-piece of Woolim, Yunji, Yujin and Hayoung, and Eunjin joined in 2017 to make five. The team colour built on R&B pop held steady from the debut onward, and they are sometimes discussed alongside the label context around Jessica. Hayoung's departure was confirmed in 2020, and since then the group is traced through releases and official footage rather than current activity.
Start with two songs: Playback and Want You To Say. The debut song Playback shows the individual character of four voices and the feel of bright dance pop. I Wonder, released the same year, features Eric Nam and leans on singing, which makes the raw vocal strength easy to hear. Want You To Say, from 2017, is the first major work after Eunjin joined, and both the formation of five and the depth of the R&B pop go up a step.
The active span from debut to around 2020 is only a few years, and the release count is not large. That is exactly why each piece of footage is dense: the singing of Woolim, Hayoung on MIXNINE, Eunjin's Produce 101 and Kpop Star history, so several doors back to individual members remain.
