KPOP DISCOVER's NEXZ note

What defines NEXZ is the training volume and dancing that come from a JYP survival project, together with work that changes by degrees. Built around Japanese members and including the Korean member, the seven came through Nizi Project Season 2, so practice hours, dance and a growth story can all be watched at the same time.

From the light early image of Ride the Vibe to the drive of NALLINA, the hip hop feel of O-RLY?, the sporty intensity of Beat-Boxer and the free reactive sounds of Mmchk, the work shifts stage by stage from release to release.

Japanese releases such as One Bite are kept apart from the Korean ones, and the trail runs on through music videos, Dance Practice, STUDIO CHOOM, it's Live and THE FIRST TAKE style clips. Ride the Vibe, then NALLINA, then O-RLY? carries the change out of that early image.

Editors' take Ride the Vibe / NALLINA / O-RLY? — a growth story of practice hours and dance in three songs, from a JYP seven-piece centred on Japanese members.

Japan activity score

KPOP DISCOVER original metric
No. 53/ 210 groups

No. 53 of 210 groups with recorded activity in Japan (top 25%)

  • 2Japanese releases
  • 5Japan-related tracks
  • 6Members from Japan
  • 0Official Japanese accounts

The denominator is the 210 groups, out of 525 covered by KPOP DISCOVER, whose raw score reaches at least one point. The score adds 10 points per Japanese-market release, 3 per Japan-related track, 12 per member from Japan, and 8 per official Japanese account. Japanese-market releases carry the most weight because they are the most direct evidence of activity; related tracks add track-level detail; members from Japan stand for Japanese-language communication and continuity; official accounts stand for a permanent point of contact. The weights are an editorial judgement, not a statistical optimisation, and the ranking tracks release volume in Japan closely.
