KPOP DISCOVER's KNK note
KNK debuted on March 3, 2016 as a five-piece out of YNB Entertainment, a third-generation boy group. The name comes from the Korean 크나큰. Tall members gave the silhouette its size, the dancing sat low in the body, and the singing carried weight, which together set the early impression. The debut song Knock and, from the same year, Back Again and U cover the texture of the voices and the dramatic construction of the songs in one pass.
Sun Moon Star and Rain from 2017 mark out a width that reaches past hard-hitting dance tracks, with a neat melody and vocal-led construction to the fore. Rain brings ballad-leaning feeling together with calm visual treatment, so the vocal axis is easy to feel. Set those beside Back Again and the reach of the early sound comes into view.
