ZICO arrived in the Korean music scene in 2011 as leader and rapper of Block B. Using his production work inside the group as a foothold, he pushed activity under his own name to the front from around 2014, and the outline comes clearly into view with GALLERY in 2015. Handling both the rapping and the beatmaking himself, he has moved with two titles at once, rapper in a K-pop group and producer in K-hiphop, as a solo artist signed to KOZ Entertainment.
Four songs make the clearest way in. Any song, from 2020, has everything lined up to dance to, to ride along with, a chorus that sticks in the ear, and it spread far while tied to challenge culture. BERMUDA TRIANGLE in 2016 is credited to 3 names with Crush and DEAN, finished as if the night mood of K-hiphop had been poured straight into a track. She's a Baby in 2017 carries a pop-leaning brightness, and the ratio of rap to melody shows the range of ZICO. Then SPOT! (feat. JENNIE) in 2024 became the way in for K-pop fans through the participation of JENNIE of BLACKPINK.
Seen as a turning point, the huge hit of Any song was the moment ZICO reached far beyond listeners who lean K-hiphop. That flow has continued: DUET with Lilas Ikuta arrived in 2025 along with an appearance on THE FIRST TAKE, and the road in from the Japanese-speaking world was laid in this period.
