SONAMOO is the 7-member girl group TS Entertainment sent out on December 29, 2014. The name means pine tree in Korean, and the fandom name Solbangul comes from the word for pine cone. The debut song Deja Vu put low-centred choreography and the heavy rap of D.ana and NewSun at the front, starting with a stern mood that set them apart from other third-generation girl groups of the time.
The clearest way in is the run from Deja Vu to CUSHION to I Like U Too Much. After the debut song delivers the hip-hop weight, CUSHION in 2015 holds the strength of the rap while moving closer to pop, and I Like U Too Much in 2016 brings summer brightness to the surface. Lining up those 3 tracks alone makes the change in the group come into view naturally.
In 2017 they released I Think I Love U, Friday Night and I (knew it) in quick succession, widening the range from light dance pop to grown-up expression. We Are Legendary and Orange Cappuccino followed in 2019, but around 2021 the situation at the agency changed, group activity shrank sharply, and individual work by each member became the focus.
